March 1st, 1948 | Opening florist 'Rivièra Bloemsierkunst' Shortly after the Second World War, on 1 March 1948 Jacques and Dini Teunissen opened a florist's shop on the Amsterdamse Overtoom. They called their shop 'Rivièra Bloemsierkunst' after the Italian 'flower Rivièra'. The Teunissens built up this branch into a leading florist shop. The shop's specialty was bridal bouquets. Their floral creations adorned the 25th wedding anniversary celebrations of Queen Juliana and Prince Bernhard in the Amstel Hotel.
1960 | Maastraat Branch Opening of the Maastraat branch in elegant Amsterdam South.
1975 | Son Henk Teunissen joins in In 1975, son Henk joined his parents and directed his attention to the business market. Rivièra Bloemsierkunst supplied many famous companies.
1985 | Herenstraat branch & start of 'home decoration' In 1985, Henk became owner and in the same year opened a branch in the Herenstraat, in the heart of Amsterdam. In this period, he bought a container of Asian pots during a holiday in Malaysia; sales were a great success. This was the start of the 'home decoration' collection.
1989 | Nico Tijsen enters the scene Present creative director Nico Tijsen joined the company. Together with Henk, he is the creative brain and innovator behind the interior brand.

1997 | Opening Kalvertoren The very first shop with the complete Rivièra Maison home concept: furniture and accessories for home and garden. This shop totally reflects the special 'Rivièra' atmosphere. Timeless, comfortable and a touch of chic. After the opening of the Kalvertoren, business boomed: shops were opened all over the Netherlands.
2003 | Over the border Rivièra Maison has its own shops, but it also operates a successful dealer network at home and abroad. In January 2003, Rivièra Maison has an atmospheric stand at the Maison & Objet, a leading interior design show in Paris. The collection has now become a success worldwide and is sold in many countries, from Australia to the United States.
2005 | Opening shop Istanbul A complete Rivièra Maison in the heart of metropolitan Istanbul. Unique! Especially since this fairy tale city only had bazaar-type shops or modern design shops until now!

2007 | Opening Concept Store Van Baerlestraat The showpiece of Rivièra Maison opens its 'louvered' doors. The only shop in the Netherlands with valet parking, a bell boy and a special car – in the shape of a luxury bag – to deliver gifts.
